The Executive Regional Minister Search Team held its first meeting on June 5-6. Vinetta Golphin-Wilkerson, pastor of Granger Community Church in West Valley City, Utah, serves as chair of the committee. She is joined by ex officio members Diane Ashton, regional moderator, and Betsy Straka, chair of the CRMR personnel committee.
Members of the committee, approved by the Executive Committee on behalf of the Regional Board include: Marilyn Aiken, Cheryl Breiner, Jason Coon, Dora De Van, Stan Hamamoto, Jason Keshishian, Ruben Rodriguez, Darryl Searuggs, Melissa St. Clair, and Bob Steers.
The team met for orientation with Sharon Watkins, General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Ruth Fletcher, Regional Minister for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Montana, and April Johnson, Minister of Reconciliation for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Ruth Fletcher will serve as consultant and coach to the process.
The integrity of this process requires the participation of the members of the church gathered throughout the Central Rocky Mountain Region. Every voice is important.
The team’s first task is to develop a profile of the Region that will enable prospective candidates to have a better understanding of who Disciples are in the Central Rocky Mountain Region as well as the Region’s hopes and dreams work of the church throughout the Region.
The Executive Regional Minister Search Team will a series of Regional gatherings to share in prayer and conversation. Members of the Executive Regional Minister Search Team will be present to lead the prayers and conversations.
In order to reach as many people as possible, the meeting sites will be spread throughout the Region. In consideration of the many miles covered by the Region, other strategies to gain input are being considered including web-based meetings. More information will be shared in the coming weeks with specific details about the gatherings.
