From February through May of this year, the Executive Regional Minister Search Team has visited with congregations that make up the 311,000 square miles of Disciples in the Central Rocky Mountain Region. We have enjoyed the hospitality and fellowship of our sisters and brothers in Christ. We are grateful for every cookie, meal, cup of coffee, or bottle of water we shared in fellowship with you.
The listening sessions varied in size from two voices to 30 voices; in locations from Burlington, Colorado, to Twin Falls, Idaho, and from Sheridan, Wyoming, to Farmington, New Mexico. We heard from the Regional Board and from individual pastors and friends of the Region.
We asked five questions in every context and gathered over 168 responses. Those responses were sorted into categories based on the Region’s core values: Diversity, Innovation, Communication, and Empowerment.
There was surprising consistency in the responses we heard. The responses in the listening sessions support and affirm the core values of the region. The voices we heard want to see the Central Rocky Mountain Region live its values in the particulars of congregational life, ministerial life, and regional life. The voices we heard care about the Gospel lived in community, the future of our church, and about the congregations thriving in their locations.
The Executive Regional Minister job description and regional profile are direct reflections of the voices we heard in the listening sessions across the region. These documents have been reviewed by our General Minister and President, Sharon Watkins, and our Regional Minister Search Consultant, Ruth Fletcher. The Board of the Central Rocky Mountain Region approved them in a call meeting on July 14, 2016.
Many hours of prayer and hard work have been invested by the Search Team members. Our region is blessed by their commitment and integrity which they have faithfully poured into this process.
The Search Team has been especially blessed by the support, wisdom, insight and enthusiasm of Diane Ashton, in her ex-officio role on the team as Regional Moderator. As of July 1, our new Regional Moderator, Reggie Chapman, has joined the search team in an ex-officio role and brings his special gifts and insights to the work.

We are looking forward to continuing the next phase of our journey to identify the person God has chosen to be the next Executive Regional Minister to the Central Rocky Mountain Region.
