CRMR Women’s Ministries

Our purpose is to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment, education and creative ministries to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of the church of Jesus Christ and to provide a channel through which women in the congregation and the regional Women’s Ministries in the United States and Canada may be joined in fellowship and find means for effective participation in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

2018 WWOW (Wild Women of the West)

Dear CRMR Disciples Women,

I am thrilled to announce that registration for the Wild Women of the West interregional event is HERE! You can register below with the registration button.

The theme is CONNECT, and we aim to do just that! Disciples Women from ALL of the western regions will connect on April 6-8, 2018, in Scottsdale, AZ for an exciting weekend of fellowship, fun, and worship and CONNECTION.

If you register before February 1, 2018, then costs are $150 for adults, $100 for young adults 18-30, $100 for youth and children ages 5-18, and FREE for children 0-4.  You are welcome to pay the registration in full OR put down a $50 deposit. Final payments should be made by March 1, 2018 in order to retain this introductory rate.

Your Disciples Women’s Ministries of the CRMR Region is pleased to offer scholarships of up to $75 for women attending from our Region. If you are selected for the scholarship, it will be applied directly to your registration. We will open up on our scholarship applications on January 1, 2018 or earlier – more information will be coming soon. We suggest you go ahead and put down a deposit for the event so that your spot will be guaranteed.

The planning team is excited about this event!

1) We have AMAZING keynote speakers: Daphne Gascot Arias, Vinetta Golphin-Wilkerson, and Cathy Nichols – you will be “WWOW’ed” by their prophetic voice and fiery presences.

2) Our NEW General Minister and President, Teresa Hord Owens, will preach on Sunday morning at the event. YOU have the opportunity to hear her live and in person.

3) We will have special opportunities for youth and young adults – we can’t wait for you to CONNECT.

We anticipate having Spanish translation available throughout the event. You can also CONNECT today by participating in the prayer square ministry for the event! We are making 2”x3”prayer squares (Hint – you can make them even if you can’t attend the event) out of yarn or other fabrics. These squares can be whipped up in less than an hour, and they are a perfect way for knitters and crocheters to finish a skein of yarn. You can read more about the prayer square ministry taking place in California at Rev. Gwynn Fuqua is heading up this ministry, and you can contact her at for patterns, details and a mailing address. We are aiming to get a LOT of prayer squares, so break out your needles and hooks!

There will also be two Pre-events taking place.  One is a Mission Opportunity with Fountain of Hope – which is a Christian ministry targeting the zip codes at the center of sex trafficking for Arizona.  We will also have a session featuring Sandhya Jha and her book “Transforming Communities”.  Both will be wonderful opportunities to CONNECT.

It won’t be the same without you!  So get registered early!.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me at 307-399-6904 or write me at

In the meantime, your prayers are very welcome for the event, as well!

You can always tell Santa this is what you want for Christmas!

Blessings this Holy Season of Love,

Marilyn Aiken

Human Trafficking

DW-HT-ChainlogoBW72dpiThe women of the region are asked to continue to support the Human Trafficking: Social Action Emphasis of the IDWM for 2014 to 2018. We need to be more aware that human trafficking is happening within our communities and not just in other countries of the world. Now it is time for action! We are asking each congregation to find an organization to support. There is a lot of information on this page to help those of us who are modern day abolitionists.

We want to focus on three areas of human trafficking, three links of the chain:

DW-HT-STChain Link 1. Sex trafficking, our focus is on women, men, boys and especially our young  girls as young as 9 years of age who are being targeted by traffickers every day.

Chain Link 2. Labor trafficking/immigration with this our focus is on the labor trafficking that is at epic proportions and is closely tied to the immigration issues in this country.

DW-HT-DemandChain Link 3. Demand, our focus here is if there were no demand for sex and labor services there would be no trafficking.  Decrease demand and we decrease trafficking.

Here are a few resources to help you get started.

 Restore Innocence

As of November 2013 Restore Innocence has shipped over 900 Restoration Bags to the FBI and Homeland Security in over 37 states! The Restoration Bags are critical part of our outreach, as they help agents in the field build rapport with victims. (Read More Here and get list of bag items to donate)

Red Scarf Awareness of Domestic Violence

hangtag-domestic-violenceInternational Disciples Women Ministries want to remember all the women and children who have died because of domestic violence. We ask you to place a red scarf (or scarf with red in it) on an empty chair at all of you meetings and events in memory of all those who have died at the hands of abusers.
