Our purpose is to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment, education and creative ministries to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of the church of Jesus Christ and to provide a channel through which women in the congregation and the regional Women’s Ministries in the United States and Canada may be joined in fellowship and find means for effective participation in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
The women of the region are asked to continue to support the Human Trafficking: Social Action Emphasis of the IDWM for 2014 to 2018. We need to be more aware that human trafficking is happening within our communities and not just in other countries of the world. Now it is time for action! We are asking each congregation to find an organization to support. There is a lot of information on this page to help those of us who are modern day abolitionists.
We want to focus on three areas of human trafficking, three links of the chain:
Chain Link 1. Sex trafficking, our focus is on women, men, boys and especially our young girls as young as 9 years of age who are being targeted by traffickers every day.
Chain Link 2. Labor trafficking/immigration with this our focus is on the labor trafficking that is at epic proportions and is closely tied to the immigration issues in this country.
Chain Link 3. Demand, our focus here is if there were no demand for sex and labor services there would be no trafficking. Decrease demand and we decrease trafficking.
Here are a few resources to help you get started.
Red Scarf Awareness of Domestic Violence
International Disciples Women Ministries want to remember all the women and children who have died because of domestic violence. We ask you to place a red scarf (or scarf with red in it) on an empty chair at all of you meetings and events in memory of all those who have died at the hands of abusers.
The General Assembly in 2015 in Columbus, OH, will be focused around the theme of SOAR! What do you think of when you hear the word “soar”?
Disciples Women thought of soaring above the pain and struggle that is part of the world we live in…rising above with God’s help. In keeping with the theme and reflecting the work of Disciples Women’s Ministries, we will be accumulating peace cranes. There is a Japanese legend that says if a person folds 1,000 cranes they will get their wish. This story inspired us to think about what we do when we have a deep need. Our intent is to gather 1,000 cranes with 1,000 prayers written on them by the end of General Assembly. When we have achieved this goal we will join together in prayer and offer all these concerns to God. We know that God will already be answering these prayers between now and General Assembly; those prayers/cranes will be included so when we pray we will also offer prayers of thanksgiving for what God has already done and is already doing.
Over the next year as Disciples Women staff journeys to be with women in the United States and Canada we will be accepting cranes to be brought back with us. There will be cranes already made as well as paper to make cranes available at the Disciples Women booth at the assembly. We look forward to adding your prayer and your crane to the flock so together we will pray for the concerns of our brothers and sisters knowing that God hears us.
Prayer – Mind, Body and Soul June 6th 2015 at Greeley First Christian Church! Join us there!
The CRMR Disciples Women Board now offers One Day Traveling Retreats to the women. This is a ‘retreat-in-a-box’. The Board will provide the retreat personnel, presentations and the materials and a sponsoring congregation will provide the facility, morning snack, and lunch while inviting women from the surrounding congregations. The board is initially creating four (4) options for the retreat programs. Previous year retreats were held at FCC Sterling, FCC Cheyenne, and FCC Colorado Springs. Contact Lenna Fajerman for more information on this great program.
The four retreats that are available are:
- Prayer – Mind, Body and Soul
- Living in the Green – Ordinary Times
- Seasons of Our Lives
- When Life Gives You Lemons
Contributions are now accepted online via the DMF online donation system. You may make a one-time donation or schedule various recurring donation options. Be sure to select “Blessing Boxes” in the ‘Select Designation’ option.

Unto you, O God, we give our thanks and lift our hearts in prayer. May your presence be with us and your love surround us as we work together as women of faith. Open our eyes to the needs of the world and fill our hearts with concern for all people. Guide us so that we may truly serve you through Jesus, Christ, our Lord. Amen
