CRMR Women’s Ministries

Our purpose is to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment, education and creative ministries to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of the church of Jesus Christ and to provide a channel through which women in the congregation and the regional Women’s Ministries in the United States and Canada may be joined in fellowship and find means for effective participation in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Counting the Days to August 22, 23, & 24th, 2014

NEW DATE!!!!               NEW DEADLINE – JUNE 1, 2014

It’s the beginning of a new year and we look forward to all the great things that will happen in 2014.  We mentally think about planting in the Spring, warm days of Summer and what we want to do outside.  We anticipate the colors of fall and when we might go see them.  Then it’s back into the holidays.  Sometime in there we ladies need time for us.  To refresh, renew, and take time away to study God’s word.  The question is when can this be done with all we do already.  The answer is plan now and count the days to the Central Rocky Mountain Region 2014 Women’s Renewal.  Mark on your calendar June 1st as the registration deadline and that you will be away from home on August 22 through the 24th.  Since many of us are multi-taskers, during the weekend you might be able to enjoy the fall colors, refresh, renew and take time to study God’s word.  You can anticipate a great time in the fall at Glen Eyrie, near Colorado Springs.  Registration forms will be sent out soon.  We had 67 registered last year and we would like at least 100 this year, so bring a friend.  See you at CRMR Women’s Renewal August 22, 23, & 24th, 2014.

Human Trafficking

The women of the region are asked to support the Human Trafficking: Social Action Emphasis of the IDWM for 2010 to 2014. This will continue another 4 years 2014 to 2018. We need to be more aware that human trafficking is happening within our communities and not just in other countries of the world. Now it is time for action! We are asking each congregation to find an organization to support. Here are a few resources to help you get started.

Traveling Retreats

The CRMR Disciples Women Board now offers One Day Traveling Retreats to the women. This is a ‘retreat-in-a-box’. The Board will provide the retreat personnel, presentations and the materials and a sponsoring congregation will provide the facility, morning snack, and lunch while inviting women from the surrounding congregations. The board is initially creating four (4) options for the retreat programs.  Last year retreats were held at FCC Sterling, FCC Cheyenne, and FCC Colorado Springs. Contact Lenna Fajerman for more information on this great program.

The four retreats that are available are:

  • Prayer – Mind, Body and Soul
  • Living in the Green – Ordinary Times
  • Seasons of Our Lives
  • Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread

Quilts for Tennyson

Each year, the Quilt Sales at Tennyson Center for Children at Colorado Christian Home helps raise the necessary funds needed for direct support of the abused, neglected, and at-risk children in TCC’s care. Started in the early 1970’s, a group of dedicated volunteers took donated quilts to charity bazaars and craft fairs where the sales of these beautiful quilts not only added to the much needed funding for the children, but also helped to publicize the work of Colorado Christian Home.  These wonderful volunteers are still active with the Quilt Sales to this day.

Now housed at Tennyson Center for Children’s library, the quilts have developed a loyal following over the years. Customers often come monthly to see the new arrivals. The quilts range in size from crib to king size and come in many different styles. Everything from warm and simple hand-tied patchwork quilts, finely quilted heirloom quality master-pieces to antique tops which have been recently quilted are available. All are wonderfully colorful works of art.

Donations of quilts are accepted year-round. Making a quilt for Tennyson Center for Children can be a fun and fulfilling project for any group. Your donation will be appreciated, admired and used to further the important mission of breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect. If you would like to donate a quilt, please email Nancy Slyter.
