CRMR Women’s Ministries

CRMR DISCIPLES WOMEN

The purpose of Disciples Women

is to provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment, education and creative ministries to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for the whole mission of the church of Jesus Christ and to provide a channel through which women in the congregation and the regional Women’s Ministries in the United States and Canada may be joined in fellowship and find means for effective participation in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

So many exciting things happening for the women in our region! Come back often to keep up with all the news.

The women of the region are asked to support the Human Trafficking: Social Action Emphasis of the IDWM for 2010 to 2014. We need to be more aware that human trafficking is happening within our communities and not just in other countries of the world. Now it is time for action! We are asking each congregation to find an organization to support. Here are a few sources to help you get started.

Traveling Retreats:  Plan your 2013 retreats today!

The CRMR Disciples Women Board is starting a new program for the women of the region by offering a One Day Traveling Retreat to the women. This is a ‘retreat-in-a-box’. The Board will provide the retreat personnel, presentations and the materials and a sponsoring congregation will provide the facility, morning snack and lunch while inviting all the surrounding congregations. The board is initially creating four (4) options for the retreat programs.  Last year retreats were held at FCC Sterling, FCC Cheyenne, and FCC Colorado Springs. Contact Lenna Fajerman for more information on this great new program. coloradogirl@pcisys.net

The four retreats that are available are:

  • Prayer – Mind, Body and Soul
  • Living in the Green – Ordinary Times
  • Seasons of Our Lives
  • Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread

Materials in these retreats are not the same materials used for the annual Women’s Renewal Conference.

Quilts for Tennyson:

Each year, the Quilt Sales at Tennyson Center for Children at Colorado Christian Home, helps raise the necessary funds needed for direct support of the abused, neglected, and at-risk children in our care. Started in the early 1970’s, a group of dedicated volunteers took donated quilts to charity bazaars and craft fairs where the sales of these beautiful quilts not only added to the much needed funding for the children, but also helped to publicize the work of Colorado Christian Home.  These wonderful volunteers are still active with the Quilt Sales to this day.

Now housed at Tennyson Center for Children’s library, the sales have developed a loyal following over the years. Customers often come monthly to see the new arrivals. The quilts range in size from crib to king size and come in many different styles.  Everything from warm and simple hand-tied patchwork quilts, finely quilted heirloom quality master-pieces to antique tops which have been recently quilted are available. All are wonderfully colorful works of art.

Donations of quilts are accepted year-round. Making a quilt for Tennyson Center for Children can be a fun and fulfilling project for any group. Your donation will be appreciated, admired and used to further the important mission of breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect. If you would like to donate a quilt, please email Nancy Slyter at nancy.slyter@tennysoncenter.org or call her at 720-855-3317.
